No. wristbands and camping are sold separately. We did this to keep the cost as cheap as possible and wanted to make sure each participant only had to purchase what they needed.
How can I purchase wristbands?
You can pre-purchase wristbands through the website or purchase them at the gate. We recommend purchasing them through the website to reduce wait times at the gate.
Do I need wristbands to access my camping spot?
Yes and no. If you are staying outside of the event area at places like Spinreel, Riely Ranch, KOA, Duneaway or Mrytlewood the answer is no. If you are staying at Boxcar, Horsfall, Horsfall Beach, VIP sand spots, South Pod or North Pod camping location that you purchased through us the answer is yes. please be aware everyone in your vehicle will need wristbands to get through the entry gate to access your camping spot. Wristbands are $25 per person and kids 12 and under are free.
Why is there a gate fee this year?
We made some major changes this year to expand the event and reduce wait times to enter the event. This includes expanding our camping from 200 trailers to 450 trailers, we created multiple air stations, we created multiple entry points to the sand, we added security in and around the event, we added ticket scanners at the gate to reduce wait times, we added extra portable restrooms and extra dumpsters. Best of all we have added a few new events like a concert on the dunes, night races on the track, Hillfest competition, better trophies and a larger vendor row. We hope these changes will make our great event even better. Our gate fee is half the cost of the competition and all our events still remain FREE once you are through the gate. So pay once, get your wristband and then leave your wallet in the trailer and enjoy all TAKEOVER has to offer FREE of charge.
When can I check in?
The event starts at noon on Wednesday but you can check in starting Wednesday morning at 8:00 am. If you would like to arrive early on Tuesday night please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to make sure your camping spot will be available.
When do I need to check out?
All participants are asked to clean their sites and check-out by noon on Sunday June 30th.
Do I need a wristband to ride the open dunes?
No. If you are staying outside of the event area you will not need a wristband and will not need to go through a gate to ride 80% of the open dunes. You can ride anything north of Hauser Road, all of Bull Run (north and south), coast guard road and all of the beach. You will only need a wristband if you wish to ride the open dunes between Boxcar Hill Campground and Hauser Road. If you have any questions regarding the boundary of the event area please email us at
Do you offer daily wristbands or just weekend wristbands?
We thought about offering different wristbands based on busy days and or weekends but we decided to just make our wristbands cheaper than a daily pass at other events. This way people don't have to choose which days to enter the event area and which days to try and save a few bucks. We solved this by making our tickets the cheapest in the business. We recommend pre-purchasing your tickets through our website or purchasing them when you arrive at the gate. This way if you are out riding and decide to checkout out the event simply pull out your phone, get your e-ticket scanned, receive a wristband and head on in. Once you have your wristband you are good to go for all 5 days. So next time there is no need to stop, simply show your wristband and head in.
Where can I pick up my wristband?
whether you purchase on-line or at the gate all wristbands must be picked up at the gate when you arrive. Simply show the gate staff your printed ticket, your e-ticket, your confirmation email or a screen shot of the ticket. They will scan your ticket and give you your wristband. This process is quick and painless similar to entering any major concert.
